Dispose old projectors in the trash? Refurbished projectors!
In addition to the sale of new projectors, rebeam from Berlin established a special line of business. This includes the purchase of used projectors, the general refurbishment and also the sale of “refurbished” projectors.
Rebeam is not only distributor for new projectors, but also overhauls and renews used equipment. What are the advantages of used projectors – besides the lower price?
Used is reliable! Here all teething troubles are already eliminated, the devices get the latest firmware from us and unlike with the current laser projectors, known bugs are already eliminated here. This means that the used equipment is a reliable workhorse. But there are also other good reasons: the customer can implement more creativity with his existing budget and increase his profit in the long term. Now the equipment may be as expensive as an external rental, but in the future the customer will earn 100% of this money. With this concept we also help those who want to position themselves in strongly growing markets such as South America and develop in the long term. With the second life cycle, we help our “high-end” rental companies and “early adopters” in Europe to switch to the latest 4K or 8K laser generation even cheaper and earlier.
What exactly does a general refurbishment include?
First, the devices are cleaned from the ground up and dismantled down to the individual parts, optical elements that show signs of wear are replaced, light sources are replaced and lenses are cleaned intensively. Then all fans are tested individually and replaced if necessary
Finally, there is the elaborate quality check. The devices are thoroughly tested and only if they have passed the Rebeam test including a long-term check, they leave our house including a guarantee.
Rebeam was also awarded the German Sustainability Prize…
In fact, we are one of the three most sustainable SME companies in Germany and have also received this award for this. We have saved more than 5000 tons of CO2 over the last 10 years by recycling projectors. That’s as much CO2 as 5,000 large beeches convert in 80 years. It is exciting to know that every kilo of newly produced projector produces about 30kg of CO2
output means. In cooperation with the Technical University of Berlin, a master thesis was written on this topic, which gave us concrete evidence of these values. You would be surprised how much CO? would be saved and waste would be avoided if more in this world were repaired and added to a second life cycle.
They are now also delivering projectors to Bolivia for the South America Games 2018. How did this partnership come about?
Yes, we are very pleased and proud to support such a top-class event for the first time with our refurbished equipment. Our technique is used in Cochabamba for the opening ceremony in a large 3D mapping. Our sales manager for South America is also a mapping artist. We were won as partners by Spetto, the artist who already programmed the mapping for the Olympic Games in Rio.
Certainly the enormous price savings and our service have also contributed to the selection…
What does the service include and which projectors are involved?
Worldwide warranty, free replacement devices, on-site support by our mapping specialists. The purchase price corresponded approximately only to a normal monthly dryhire rent in South America. It was about as much light as possible with a low weight and a good suitability for heights, since Cochabamba is located at almost 2600 meters. The industry leader in the 20,000 ANSI lumen class was chosen: 16 x Panasonic PT-DZ21K. No other projector in this class can be expected to be so reliable and widespread.
Over 300,000 lumens will illuminate the opening ceremony on 26 May. There will also be more mappings during the games with the devices.
