We test the Vivitek DH 4661Z – WH Laser projector
Built in 2017, the Vivitek DH 4661Z is still quite a young beamer. The Taiwanese manufacturer Vivitek has been using this laser beamer since 2017. It is a compact 1 chip DLP projector.
Optically also very attractive, compact and white, in addition quite light, only 11kg and therefore perfect for elegant foyers, bars, clubs or smaller restaurants.
Unlike what we are used to with large projectors, a zoom lens is permanently integrated here. The lens provides 1.15 – 1.90: 1 projection ratio. 1.65x zoom.
Equipped with (Real) Full HD 3D, practically no loss of quality, incredibly brilliant colors and particularly sharp 20,000 : 1 contrasts. We are satisfied with the image quality at 5000 ANSI lumens. We notice positive: The beamer is remarkably quiet in order not to attract negative attention in workrooms and meeting rooms.
The projection takes place off axis. It quickly becomes clear to us that he is outputting the image especially for ceiling mounting. With Lensshift it is possible to move the projection to eye level. By means of keystone correction, the distorted image is optically output as a normal image. The following always applies to a good projection: Any trapezoidal distortion should be minimized. Keystone correction is done vertically and horizontally with the Vivitek.
The zoom function is reminiscent of the classic home cinema beamer. The lens functions such as zoom (1.65x zoom) can be adjusted manually on the lens itself and the lensshift function (top-down and left-right) via two small dials. This seems a bit tedious to us, but acceptable for a fixed installation in which only one setting is made.
Not all menu items can be reached via the beamerkeypad. Further details (e.g. status information) can be called up with the remote control. The audio functions can also be accessed via the remote control: Two integrated 5W loudspeakers alone can provide an acceptable sound – but not for gastronomy.
This laser projector is intended for conference and meeting rooms. The Vivitek DH4661Z operates with a laser light source, which is an undoubted advantage for the catering trade. The projector does not require a lamp and is therefore low-maintenance. The projector is “practically maintenance-free”, according to Vivitek, because it creates good projection with laser light of up to 20,000 hours. Equally energy-saving: the beamer switches itself off as expected if there is no input signal.
With its 360° projection capability and 5,000 ANSI lumens, it is the perfect projector for medium-sized conferences and ideal for ambitious home cinema enthusiasts, permanent installations in bars and clubs, hotels and restaurants.
