We’re testing the Christie Boxer 4K30 projector
Attractive and powerful, this is how the Christie Boxer 4K30 appears to us first. The flying frame already reveals the intended use for this professional beamer: major events such as projection mapping and stage shows of all kinds.
We used the integrated near-field communication (NFC) to read lamp and system information, the information can be called up directly with the smartphone, even when the projector is switched off.
The luminous intensity, 30000 center lumens, and the good colors impress us despite the bright room lightinglighting (2,000:1 contrast).
Despite its spectacular light intensity, the Boxer 4k30 seems to be quite compact and light. The amazing brightness is achieved by the mercury vapour lamps. This also explains the compact, attractive outer shape, as this type of lamp requires less space than xenon lamps, for example. At 73kg, the projector opens the possibility for mobility and good 360º projections.
Using the display port, we test various images and videos. All inputs have a preview function, by the way. We find the possibility of geometric correction (vertical & horizontal) exciting – very user-friendly! Colours and contrasts are absolutely satisfactory.
Hidden inside is also the simplified (but completely exact) possibility to adjust illumination and convergence. By means of slide controls and control wheels, fine adjustments can be made quickly. This is known to us from some Barco models, but still finds our positive approval.
Also practical is the toolkit integrated in the projector with a useful service tool.
Our conclusion: The projector lives up to its name “Boxer”, here not only professional results, but also user-friendly projection fun on a high level can be expected!
